A safe, secure and happy childhood is important and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their experiences during their time at Horseshoe Day Nursery. Encouraging them to become independent in their learning and supporting each individual every step of the way.
It is our belief that children learn and develop best through play. Play is a natural process for children in which they learn and develop skills at a pace suitable to the individual and their needs and interests.
Activities and play are provided in respect of observations made by the key person of the children to work in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Your wishes are always catered for by our trained staff. We are able to take twelve 0-2 year olds in this room where a variety of activities are offered to stimulate your child’s learning. For example Spaghetti play, water play, painting and local walks.
Each child’s development will be monitored and recorded monthly these files are available at all times for parents to have a look at. Parents are asked to provide bottles/formula and foods till your child is able to eat food provided by the nursery, this is always home cooked by our own cook and includes healthy fresh veg. You will also need to provide nappies, wipes and creams.
Each child will receive a daily diary which will be competed each day by nursery staff.
The children have access to all of the toys within the room enabling them to make their own choices. We offer a wide range of activities ranging from sand and water play to colour matching and threading.
Each child has there own key worker who will record the child’s development in accordance with the Birth to Three Matters. The Yearling room has a planned routine that all staff follow this helps the children to prepare for our Pony Room (3-5 years). We have singing times, story times, activity times and also outdoor play. Our purpose built play area offers a range of experiences for your child. The play area overlooks green fields where the horses play.
Staff discuss with parents how their child’s day has been when they are collected from nursery.
When your child reaches the age of 2 years old they may qualify for the two year old offer. Which means they are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education per week for 38 weeks.
We follow the EYFS which enables us to review how your child is progressing. Each child will be treated as an individual and be allowed the freedom to make their own choices, which helps their independence.
We all know that all children learn best through experiences and at The Horseshoe Day Nursery there experiences are planned to meet their own individual stages of development. All planning sheets are displayed on the wall so that parents can view them at any time. Children will be allocated their own key worker.
When your child reaches 3 years they will receive an education grant, which means that they are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education per week for 38 weeks.
